Multisensor expands range of VOC Monitors for Environmental Protection

Manchester, UK – 23rd September 2010 - Multisensor Systems Ltd has announced a new range of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) detection products based upon its advanced sensor technology. The MS1100 range provides for the detection of VOCs to parts per billion concentrations. This means that any VOC can be detected much earlier than optically based instruments are capable of, thus making sure that the highest level of protection of plant, equipment, customers and the environment is provided. The new range is designed for the protection of Water Treatment Works, the monitoring of Waste Water for illegal discharges, the detection and containment of accidental spillages in Industrial applications and environmental monitoring. The MS1100 is smaller than its predecessors and provides an alarm function to signal a high VOC concentration event, with programmable alarm threshold levels for adjustment to the application in which it is being used. Similarly the sensitivity can be controlled to tune the operation to the environment. The instrument adjusts automatically to variations in the background environment and to sensor and circuit drift. Programming of and firmware upload to the MS1100 are via either the USB port or the wireless data modem link. Data is collected and stored for later retrieval, allowing detailed analysis using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) provided or standard spreadsheets. The basic unit provides a 4 – 20mA isolated loop output for integration into a SCADA system and indication of a system fault through a relay output. Various additional communications options are available, such as a wireless data modem and Profibus, plus the addition of extra relay drives. The instrument is housed in an IP66 enclosure, requiring 90 – 240V ac single phase or 12/24V dc power and is supplied with full software and GUI.
